  • Day 39: Brooks and Rhys are so excited to get to hold their little brother soon! Today little man got to start sporting cozy, warm pjs and gets to spend his first night in an open crib! His blood levels still show anemia after three tests over a 2 week period, but he isn’t showing any symptoms of anemia so the Drs voted to hold out for another blood test on Monday. The results Monday will determine if he gets a blood transfusion. Prayers that he makes his own red blood cells and his numbers start rising! He’ll be home sometime next week! #NICU #nicubaby #preemie #boyslife #getbettereveryday
  • Day 37: Whit is just doing great! He continues to take bottles each day! He gained a shocking 84g- I’m guessing he’s a little edema. But, he’s getting closer and closer to 5lbs. He’s 4lbs 5oz now and 17 inches long. Mom and Whit had a restful day minus the explosive poop that covered the inside of the isolette- talent! (Mom- let the nurse take care of that one!) Dad hung out at home getting the house prepped for eventual arrival.
  • Nothing like a going for a little run in a #tennessee #tornadowatch @shackleislandcrossfit #crossfitproblems #getbettereveryday #irunslow #backinthegym #45daychallenge
  • Day 36: lil man worked hard today trying to figure out feeding on a bottle. He did well, then he did not so well. Practice makes perfect and perfect gets us home. #NICU #preemie #nicubaby #boyslife #nofilter
  • One more from today. This is Whit, he’s bored hanging at the #NICU wants to go play #minecraft with his brothers at home.
  • Discharge class done. Getting home sometime soon. #boyslife #NICU
  • Day 35: We finally have ourselves a 4lbs lil man (4lbs 1oz or 1843 grams). Dad got hold lil man for the first time not kangaroo styled. Whit seems to be a little concerned about that (look at those eyes). He tries a bottle on a regular basis now. The nurses put in an NG tube so that he can continue to work on taking bottle at each feeding- followed by the tube if he gets tired or struggles. Whit is spending his afternoon snuggling with mom. Then mom & dad are off to the last of discharge classes. #endisnear #goinghomesoon #NICU #nicubaby #preemie #boyslife
  • Not advised but did it anyways.
  • Day 32: Happy One Month Birthday!! Go ahead and take your feeding tube out & let the docs know you want a bottle. #TeamWhit 😄
  • Day 30: Whit continued to put on the weight gainz today. He’s tipping the scale at 3lbs 13oz. The anticipated milestone is he might possibly make it into a regular crib by end of day or tomorrow. What a big boy! We have also recently learned about a heart murmur and that he’s anemic. The doctor is not too concerned about either issue right now. We, of course, would appreciate specific prayers that the murmur would close (and that it is not a sign of something bigger) and that his next blood test on Monday shows improvement and no need for a blood transfusion! Your prayers mean the world to us and sweet baby Whit.
